Who We Are
We are a Family!
As we follow the uncomplicated discipleship principles of Jesus, He makes us whole in every sense so that we may join Him in bringing spiritual, cultural, and political change to our world.
Established in 2010 by Pastor Scott Craig, we relocated in 2017 to our stunning 15-acre estate, home to the beautifully renovated original governor’s mansion. Our main gathering is on Sunday mornings at 10:00.
The Spirit of God is at work here! The Word of God is taught here in a refreshingly clear way. We are unapologetically patriotic, conservative, bold, and politically engaged.
Why Political is Biblical
At Landmark Community Church, we have sometimes been referred to as “that political church,” as though that were a criticism. But we would describe ourselves differently: we are a biblical church. We do not speak to cultural and civic issues because we are chasing politics; we speak because the Bible speaks. Scripture addresses righteousness, justice, government, authority, corruption, courage, truth, and the responsibility of God’s people to bear witness in every sphere of life. Much of the Old Testament was written to kings, about kings, or by kings, because as the king goes, so often goes the kingdom. Nathan spoke to David. Elijah confronted Ahab. Daniel stood before Babylonian rulers. John the Baptist addressed Herod. Paul reasoned before Felix. The people of God have never been called to silence when truth is needed in the public square.
For generations in America, the pulpit was one of the most influential voices in the nation. It is a tragic thing to have to say that the church used to be influential. The question is not whether someone will shape the culture; the question is who will. Will it be Hollywood, the media, the academy, political activists, and anti-biblical ideologies, or will it be the Church of Jesus Christ, entrusted with the truth of God? If politics can affect the church, then the church must be willing to affect politics—not as a power-hungry institution, but as a prophetic, prayerful, Scripture-formed people. Paul told believers to pray for kings and all who are in authority, and to preach the whole counsel of God. That includes the private life, the family, the church, and yes, the public life of a nation.
That is why our involvement with Turning Point USA Faith is not a departure from our mission, but an expression of it. TPUSA Faith describes its mission as equipping the church to stand for biblical truth, resist cultural compromise, and encourage a return to foundational Christian values; it also emphasizes empowering Christians to put their faith into action and engage civic and cultural discussions. We share that conviction. We believe the Church must preach Christ, make disciples, defend truth, love our neighbors, pray for those in authority, and speak with courage where God has spoken. We are not trying to make the church partisan. We are trying to keep the church faithful. Because when the Church withdraws from the culture, the culture does not become neutral—it becomes discipled by someone else.

The Dwelling Place
Serving Ellsworth Air Force Base
Peter & Tanya Kinney
MINISTRY FOCUS
In June 2021, Peter and Tanya moved to South Dakota to pioneer a new house ministry near Ellsworth Air Force Base. They accepted this assignment after serving the community of Luke AFB for six years in the Phoenix Valley. By God’s grace, The Dwelling Place Hospitality House was successfully launched and is a place where the Kinneys share the gospel and their lives with the military community, primarily with a focus on single Airmen. They desire to provide a home away from home for these young men and women, offering them a place to belong and grow in faith and God’s love. One of the main ways they serve the community is through a weekly home-cooked dinner and Bible study. They also provide weekend retreats, partner with chaplains, and help with outreach on base. They spend as much one-on-one time as possible with the Airmen by loving, discipling, mentoring, and being present in their lives.
FAITH
Peter grew up with several Christian influences. At 18, during the Gulf War, he cried out to God and became serious about making Him the Lord of his life. When the Army sent him back to Germany, Peter attended a Cadence hospitality house near post. He learned from Tony and Chris, the missionaries there, what it means to serve a living God. While his childhood church and family were influential, Germany was a strategic and formative time in Peter’s life. He considers it a blessing to now serve young men and women in the military.
Tanya accepted Christ as a young child under the guidance of her mom. She remembers sitting on the floor after misbehaving and listening to her mother share about Jesus. On that hallway floor, she asked Christ to come into her heart. Her faith was always an essential part of her childhood and journey through high school, but it was while attending a Christian college that her faith flourished.
Family
Peter and Tanya attended Simpson University in Redding, California, where they met and began dating after graduation. Peter graduated with a degree in biblical studies and Tanya in liberal studies. Tanya received her teaching credential and a Master of Education. Peter and Tanya were married in March 2002.
Peter worked in the educational field as an admissions representative. Tanya taught kindergarten at a local Christian school until they started their family. They were blessed with the birth of Nathan. He is in high school and loves almost anything to do with airsoft and his car. Nathan is currently a police cadet and hopes to become a police officer. God blessed their family with a “bonus daughter” during their time in Arizona. DD was an Airman in their ministry. She was in a car accident in 2018 and lived with them for three months while she recovered. She is now a part of their family. She loves to dance and work out and is currently living in Texas.
MINISTRY FOCUS
The Dwelling Place is a hospitality house ministry for Airmen at Ellsworth Air Force Base near the Black Hills in South Dakota. The house was established in November 2021 by Peter and Tanya Kinney and is located in the community of Box Elder. The Kinneys are the directors of the hospitality house and provide a weekly meal and Bible study for Airmen. They are working in partnership with Mark and Carol Kohl, who host a weekly lunch and Bible study in their home for military officers. Together, they minister to the Ellsworth community by sharing the gospel and their lives (1 Thessalonians 2:8).
Ellsworth AFB is home to the 28th Bomb Wing and is one of only two B-1B bases in the world. The 28th Bomb Wing guarantees combat airpower for America. The 28th BW is home to 3,700 Airmen and DoD civilians. The Air Force announced Ellsworth has been selected as the preferred location for the first operational B-21 Raider bomber and the formal training unit (www.ellsworth.af.mil).
A delicious, home-cooked meal and Bible study are offered weekly. Holiday meals, game nights, hiking and camping in the beautiful Black Hills area, along with other activities, are planned throughout the year. Retreats are an important part of the ministry to the Airmen within the community. It gives them time to get away and connect more deeply with God and others.
